Here’s the first in what I’m intending to be a weekly series of jam tracks! One of my aims for this year is to get better at recording spontaneous guitar solos, without allowing myself endless takes or overdubs. Each Wednesday I am going to make a simple jam track using a drum loop and some chords, then record a quick improvised solo over it for my YouTube Channel (youtube.com/andywattguitar – subscribe if you don’t already!). I’ll then make the jam track available for download here on my website – if you record your own solo then tag me, I’d love to hear your take!

This one uses the chords of E, D, A7 & Bm – try using E major or minor pentatonic scales, or E mixolydian & dorian modes for some extra colour.
